Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

If you want a snuggly, cuddly, lap loving dog - then Calvin is your man. A sweet affectionate even tempered guy who loves to hang around his humans,  Calvin came to DRoH from a shelter near San Antonio. He loves curling up on any soft spot and putting his head under a cover. He is all doxie and very handsome with a nice shiny coat and a tail that bends at a right angle. It appears his tail was broken at some point long ago, but he can still wag it like a champ, and it causes him no problems. He is fully house-trained and can use a doggy door to take care of his business. Calvin has a good appetite, and LOVES treats. He will go into his crate to eat, which is a good thing, so he isn't worried about anyone else in the house getting to his goodies. At night, he can sleep successfully in his crate or a dog bed in your room. He is a good watchdog and likes to make his presence known to the squirrels in the yard. When he's inside the house though, he is really quiet. One area where Calvin is working hard to improve on is his leash training. He walks well on the leash, but he can be really vocal during a walk when people or dogs are present, or sometimes even when they aren't. However he is learning to control this, and once he tires out a bit, he quiets down. He is very intelligent and trainable, and has learned a lot from his DROH family. Calvin warms up quickly to strangers of all ages and is ready to find his forever home!
