Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Hi, my name is Rusty and I am hoping for a forever home of my very own.

I used to have one, but it turned out to not be the forever kind.  You see, one day my owners took me to a scary place called a high-kill shelter and left me there.  I  couldn't stop whining and crying for them.

Next, I heard a kind voice saying how heartbreaking it was to see me so distraught and crying.  Then I heard that kind voice again saying something about "rescue" picking me up.  I didn't know who  "rescue" was, but I knew it had to be better than where I was.

It wasn't long before "Rescue" picked me up.  She told me my life was changing, and took me away from that scary place.  Rescue then took me to the vet.  She found out the reason why I wasn't feeling good and was having pee accidents in the house. I really couldn't help it.  I wasn't trying to be a naughty dog.  I have Cushing's Disease and just need to take a pill each day.  I wish my family would have taken me to the vet rather than turn their back on me.  But that's ancient history.  I'm now a healthy and happy DRoH boy and the vet says my life expectancy should be the same as any other dog!

My foster family tells me every day I'm handsome and loved.  They also give me my medicine every day and tell me I'm worth it.  I'd love to prove my worth to you!
