Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Luke has become quite a sweet dog since I got him last week. Our first few days were a little rough because he has moved around quite a bit since Hurricane Harvey. He was very nervous about my two male dachshunds for the first three days. My boys were very patient with him and after three days with us, Luke has started to learn that he is safe and loving his new foster home! He is very affectionate and sweet with all of us and loves to cuddle. He loves to explore the backyard and could spend all day outside roaming around. Luke has some vision limitations, but you wouldn't know it from the way he navigates through life! We call him the Roomba because if he bumps into a wall or chair, he will just back up and keep going! He is not fazed by his "disability" at all, and most of the time I forget that he doesn't see well. He is not a foodie, which is hard to believe for a dachshund, but he is very gentle when taking treats from me. He will make a great pet for anyone and has all the love to give for many years to come!
