Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Basil is the most adorable puppy.  His cute little rounded ears are always up, listening to the world around him.  Most of the time, he is very calm for a puppy, and his favorite place to be is in your lap.  He likes to curl up and take naps while we watch TV, or play with his toys next to you on the couch.  He will creatively decorate the room with his toys, and plays with each one every day.    He plays ever-so-gently with everyone, and is good with dogs, kids, and adults.  When he first meets a new person, he quickly warms up and gives kisses and (if they are sitting down), he will join them in their lap.  Wherever you are is where he wants to be. He loves to be carried, but if your arms are full, he will happily walk by your side wherever you go.

Basil is very obedient and wants to please his people.  He listens when you say "no" and looks at you to see what it is you expect of him.  He's a puppy, so he feels things out with his mouth, but he quickly learned that toys are OK to chew on, and nothing else.   We are still working on potty training - there is lots of praise when he goes outside like a good boy.  If you keep to a schedule, he does very well.  He does get distracted easily outside, so you do have to remind him that the outside is for pottying. He loves to chase bugs outside and carry around small sticks.    He has learned to come when called, and how to sit for treats, though sometimes he gets so excited at the thought of a cookie that he can’t help himself.

At night, Basil curls up in his bed beside the big bed with his foster sister, and he now sleeps through the whole night.  He wakes up in the morning ready to go outside to potty, and play with some toys while his breakfast is being made.    During the day while we are at work, he is in his kennel.  He waits patiently for his foster family’s return, and gets so excited when his people are finally home and he can cuddle and play with them.

Basil works hard to make sure he pleases his people.  He just wants a comfortable home with people who will love him forever.  Could you be that home?
