Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Tom (whose foster family call “Oscar”) has really turned into a handsome boy.   When he found his way to DRoH, his body condition was not good as he was very thin and needed lots of dental work other vetting.  Now, a few months later, he is healthy and happy and has turned into quite the clown.  We think that he has had a hard life and has been mistreated as he has scars on his face and body and can be very timid sometimes but he is gaining confidence and learning to trust again.  He’s made friends with the 3 cats and loves to be right next to his foster parents and or curled up in the bed with the other dachshunds.  We continue to work on his manners and he watches and learns from his foster brothers and sisters.  He’s always happy to see us, good in his crate, travels quietly in the car and walks like a gentleman on the leash (except when he sees a squirrel).  He would be ok as an only dog or would love to have a dog companion and he definitely likes to be around his humans…..especially when we are handing out treats!  Oscar would love to find his forever home with you!
