Joe is an outgoing, happy, playful boy who constantly has a smile on his face and his tail wagging. He loves toys of all kinds. He does well on a walk. He’s a good size at 16 lbs, and has that slightly stockier standard dachshund appearance. He stays in his crate when we're not home and at night since he is still getting used to our house and where is he is allowed to go and not go. He learned the doggy door on his first try and uses that to go outside to do his business or run around. He lives with another dachshund right now, and they do well together, but the resident doxie isn't much of a player. Joe would probably love a buddy to play with as he's fairly active and playful. Right now, toys are keeping him entertained. Joe would be a great dog for a family with kids as he's very gentle and silly. Joe will be undergoing heartworm treatment, but given his temperament, he's going to get through that like a champ and become a wonderful healthy new addition to whichever family will be so lucky to have him.
