Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted. We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Cameron Fry was a dog that was lucky enough to be scooped up in the umbrella that is rescue. He had a rough start and was very scared. It was pretty obvious this boy had been whipped. Every sudden movement and loud noise struck fear in him. That all has changed as he has been the warm and loving care of a gentle and kind male foster. After he was allowed to decompress this dog is amazingly sweet. He’s grateful for the new situation that he’s in and is making strides in every area to be a polite and gentle pet. We can never know for sure when a dog comes into rescue if they will be 100% dachshund it’s obvious that Cameron might have had a dachshund mother but the father was a type of hound. Really that is the best of both worlds one breed very intelligent and the other very loveable and sweet. Even with the long legs and the occasional howl this dog has proven his worth. He is fully grown so his size will remain around 20 lbs. He would be the most amazing companion animal for almost anyone but a calm and steady environment would be best suited for him. Some place with a yard to run off energy and give a place of security and safety. He has a beautiful short haired coat that makes him a real show piece with a sleek lean body. He gets along well with other dogs and shows no signs of aggressiveness. He’s able to sleep through the night in a wire kennel and be perfectly content. He might surprise you with a howl if a police or fire truck siren goes off but for the most part he is a very quiet dog. The skittishness that he has can and will go away when he’s in a wonderful home with people who will love him. A little love and a few extra bones and I believe Mr. Fry will warm your heart and fill you home with joy. If you’re looking be a smart sweet forever dog you couldn’t make a better choice than this.
