Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Jersey Little Miss "Jersey girl," is the sweetest little lady ever!​ She enjoys playing with her foster siblings (age 5F 6M) also Dachshunds.​ Everyone takes turns jumping in and out of mom's lap and lounging on the couch all day.​ Occasionally she will wander over to her human foster siblings boy/girl twin 10 year olds to cuddle up with or just sneak a kiss or two.​ She's extremely affectionate, seeks to learn and eager to please.​ She walked wonderfully with my other pups who managed to always be in the lead while Jersey kept a slower more comfortable pace.​ I used a harness on her, and she warmed up to walking on a leash with no problem. Like most Dachshunds she isn't all that interested in commands such as "sit," or "stay," and much rather do her own thing, but her normal state is pretty relaxed.​ She only barks when there is commotion with the other pups or there is someone at the door.​ She sleeps comfortably in a crate with a blanket and toy inside, and with it covered so that she feels confined and safe.​ She does know that I am close by, since I first moved the crate into my bedroom.​ ​ More recently, I moved the crate into the livingroom and (still covered) she still sleeps just as peacefully.​ I do have a pool, and she's comfortable navigating herself around it to the yard and grass area. She's quick and efficient, and ready to come right back in once she's finished doing her business.​ She's truly a joy to have here with us.
