Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted. We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

This is sassy Cassie. She has a big friendly personality in a small fluffy package. Cassie was born blind so she's not aware she is missing a sense that other dogs have. Her foster parents were initially worried about bringing a blind dog home, not sure how hard it would be to take care of Cassie and also afraid she might be reactive or struggle to interact with her foster fur siblings. But luckily all of those fears were very quickly laid to rest! Since Cassie came from a situation with many dogs, she was able to fit right in with her foster family. The only adjustments her foster parents needed to make were remembering to occasionally talk to Cassie when moving around the house to help her keep track of what's going on and not making huge changes to furniture locations. It took Cassie just a day to learn the layout of her foster home, and she operates at “Roomba” speed where she knows to walk slowly and will gently bounce off of anything in her way. If her foster parents have to leave the house, Cassie understands that she needs to stay in her kennel, but does like to have cartoons or the radio playing to keep her entertained.
