Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Charlie is a very handsome 15 pound red short hair dachshund who is waiting for his new best friend. He is very willing to snuggle on the sofa and soak up all the offered petting and belly rubs. He has learned to spend a quiet night in his kennel, but would prefer to find a family with a mostly stay at home adult as he becomes anxious if left alone during the day. This sweet pup is totally house trained and has not had any accidents, nor has he exhibited any indoor marking behaviors. Charlie is the first one in line when the trip “Outside” is announced and quickly potties as soon as he reaches a grassy area. You will have his undivided attention when he hears the crinkle of a doggy treat bag and like most dachshunds - mealtime is his favorite time of the day. He is a gentle loving lap dog. Charlie is quickly learning the sounds and routine of his new environment, but would probably be on his best behavior if he could find a home where he was the only resident dog. Charlie quickly attached to the human adults (the foster family has no children) and became very loyal, attentive, and protective. This is a really good dog who will welcome the chance to join his forever family.
