Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Gidget entered our life right after Labor Day.  We were a sad house as our last foster dog departed for her forever home when Gidget came up.  When we met her at the vet she was extremely timid and did not know what to make of us.  That night eating was not on her agenda since she was too busy figuring out our house and her foster parents and human and dog foster siblings.  That night she slept in her crate on the side of our bed with my arm hanging down so she could smell my hand.  How long would this take?  Would she adapt to us quickly?  Our 11 year old was sad she wouldn't come sit with him to watch cartoons.

Well, these worries lasted about 3 days.  Little by little she warmed up to us.  Now, almost 2 months later, she actively engages her foster dog brother for wrestling.  Our Louie is bigger than her, but she takes him every time.  She has not had any accidents in the house.  She is happy to hang out in the yard and check out the bird and squirrel population.  She also loved chewing her Nylabones.  Gidget is now coming to me and my husband for love and pets, but most importantly she jumps up to sit with our 13 and 11 year old boys to watch tv.

Gidget is a wonderfully warm dog who needs an active home.  She is amazingly well behaved and has picked up on commands very quickly.  We hope you will consider her for your home.
