Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Virginia is a red, standard size, female sweetheart with lots of love to give. She especially likes to play with toys and happily shares them with her dachshund foster brother. She also loves to play chase and wrestle with him. Although she has not encountered any cats yet, she is great with other dogs and would do best in a family with another dog companion. Virginia also loves to be around the people in her foster family. She adores playtime indoors and romping around in the backyard, playing chase or fetch. She enjoys warming her belly in the sun and rolling in the cool grass. Anytime is a great time for belly rubs and ear scratches as far as Virginia is concerned. She’s quite active and her perfect forever home is one that will play with her a lot. Although she is very playful, she really just loves to be where her people are and will lie quietly at your feet if you are busy working. Virginia walks well on a leash and is potty-trained, going to the back door to let us know when she needs out. She is working on crate training and basics such as “sit.” She is super smart and catches on quickly.  In doors, she will bark if startled (such as when the doorbell rings). In the backyard, Virginia loves to strike up a conversation and barks with joy at neighbors or animals, trying to engage them . She tends to be a little shy at first, but warms up quickly. Virginia is a sweet girl who will make a great addition to a lucky family.
