Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted. We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

UPDATE: Foster Mom Report: Red has improved leaps and bounds in the few weeks he's been with me. His crate anxiety is nearly gone, just so long as he is in a secure empty crate (no blankets/towels/etc.) He goes into his crate on command and doesn't make a sound. He is 100% potty trained and uses the doggy door to do his business. He is even getting comfortable being by himself when I am home. He no longer follows me from room to room. And when I tell him to lay down or leave me alone, cause he's had enough pets, he will grudgingly comply. This super sweet boy is truly full of love and affection and will make a great addition to any family.
Another dog who found his way to rescue after all the rains we've experienced in the area. He's a bit of a taller dachshund, which is why he is such a good walker (and jumper, even though he's not supposed to). We have no doubt this fellow had a family before, but he's been separated from them, and maybe that's for the best. Due to a lack of basic preventative meds, this guy is having to go through the arduous treatment for heartworms, which is really no fun for such a young, active guy. He would much rather be going on long walks, playing in the back yard, and spending time with his people. He's a bit skittish at first, but we think that's just cause his whole world has been turned upside down. He really does love people and getting pets and attention. In fact, if you stop petting him, he'll gladly scoot closer to your hand, face, arm, leg... basically whatever body part that can stroke or touch him. He wants to be with you at all times and everywhere you go, even if its just another room in the house. Because he is so attached to people, he's not too fond of being in a crate. We are training him to understand how to feel safe and secure in his crate, giving him some chew sticks so he can stay busy while he's in there. He's improving every single day. He knows how to sit and will do so on demand before he is fed. Really, this guy just needs proper love and attention, patience and commitment. You give him that, he'll give you so much more in return.
