Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Michael (AKA Mario)  Since his previous owner called him Mario, we've been calling him that.  He knows his name very well and responds happily to his name when called.   Mario is super sweet and very gentle.  It takes him just a few minutes to warm up to you, and then he just wants to snuggle with you and a blanket of course!  He gets a long well with his 3 foster brothers (2 senior dogs 12+, and a 4 year old).  He is very gentle and sweet with my children (8+ older).  He has a great appetite and is very gentle when taking treats & snacks.  Mario would prefer to go for walks over riding in the car, but does fine with both.  He tugs just a little on the leash, but nothing that can't be corrected with consistent daily walks.  He did get a chance to swim in the pool, and he's a fantastic swimmer when prompted and guided in the pool (check out his video), but is not eager to jump in on his own. Mario loves to sun bathe under the warm Houston sun!  I love that he's not as vocal as my other dogs, so he's quiet for this breed for sure.  He is a very intelligent pup too, he's mastered the stairs to get on/off the couch in a very short period of time.
