Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted. We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Sammy is a very distinguished old man who would make a great companion for you if you love spending time on the couch and watching tv together, going for a trip through a drive-thru to get a tasty treat or want to go on a stroll through the neighborhood together.
Sammy is so appreciative of all the love you give him - sometimes he even leans in as close as he can when you’re giving him a good rub. He will use his nose to nudge your hand if he feels like the head rubbing needs to last just a little bit longer.
On top of being a very lovable companion, Sammy is very relaxed and easy going around the other members of your household. He has two foster dog siblings who he loves to watch play and wrestle.
He even tries to join in, but isn’t quite as agile as his two younger foster siblings. He does enjoy receiving pats from his human foster sibling as well and is very patient with the toddler wanting to talk and pet all over him. Doesn’t bother him a bit.
His favorite thing to do is go for walks! Once he sees the leash get brought out he does a little happy dance and waits to get clipped in and heads out for his little adventure. He walks great on his leash (no pulling) and doesn’t bark at other people out on their walk as well.
Sammy is house trained and does his business outside. And while he isn’t responding to trained commands like “sit” or “come”, we are working on it. He’s already starting to respond to “Sammy come” a little bit, so I’m sure this old dog can learn new tricks!”
