Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted.  We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

A dachshund named Kitty...oh the irony of it all..

We took in a very thin Kitty Ross on July 28th.  After introductions into her foster home we found in this small dachshund was a bundle of pure love.  Very responsive to human touch - she really loves people.  Kitty, like a boy named Sue, has had some rough days but within a week of regular food and water, love, and attention she bloomed into a true treasure.  She is so small she is like picking up fairy dust and does love to be picked up and loved on.  She is very willing to sit in your lap and watch a movie.  She loves to play ball and returns it with a happy wag of tail wanting another throw.

Kitty has been around town and walks nicely on a leash and enjoys a ride in the car.  We are working with her on crate training and she goes outside on a leash for potty breaks. She really seems to understand this ritual. She also has no fear of using a doggie door.  The perfect environments for Kitty would to be in a single dog home with no children.  Sudden movements and other animals cause her to be protective of herself as she is so very tiny and delicate.  She is in a home with 3 other dogs and is getting better daily.  We are working on being more socialized with other dogs.  She seems to learn quickly but would prefer your total attention.  She would make a perfect dog for an older couple who just wants love love and more love.  Kitty is a rare find and with some TLC she would make her owners very happy, she is not destructive, she doesn’t bark a lot, she eats and potty breaks on a schedule.  That puts Kitty in a very favorable category for adoption and she deserves a wonderful home.
