Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted. We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Hugh is a young, red very handsome dachshund who found himself lost on the streets and needing help. He has limited vision from what the doctor's think is a congenital issue. He requires eye drops 3 times a week, but apart from that, you'd hardly know there was anything wrong. He has adapted to his foster surroundings incredibly well. He even stayed with a vacation foster, and had NO trouble getting his way around... even learning how to use a doggy door after just a few tries (see video for proof!) Hugh gets along just fine by seeing shadows and using his keen sense of smell and hearing. He's puppy active. It wouldn't hurt for Hugh to have a dog buddy because he loves to play, and a friend would help handle his high energy. He would also do great if he just had a human to play with him and take him on long walks. He'd be good in an apartment setting, but he does sometimes bark to communicate with his humans when they are there. He is crate trained, and housetraining is improving every day. He is super sweet and loves to cuddle. He'll sleep in your bed at night or in his crate. All he wants is to sit in your lap and be loved. Would you please consider adopting this special little guy? He deserves a chance at a forever family who will love him in spite of his disability. Anyone adopting him will be really lucky because he's the awesomest dog there is.
Update: Check out the newly added photos and video of Hugh, and see how shiny his coat is and how filled out his frame got with a good diet. His vision impairment doesn't slow him down nor stop him from having fun. He's a totally different dog from when he came into DROH a few months ago. Happy and Healthy - That's the power of great foster care!
