Not all DRoH Dogs are listed on our website. New intake dogs are first presented to approved adopters and often get adopted. We recommend any serious adopter applies to adopt and gets in the DRoH approved adopter queue so they will see the newest dogs as they arrive.

Shere Khan is a two year-old athletic, affectionate bundle of energy. Light on his feet, he loves to race around his foster dad’s yard and play chase. Shere is deaf, so there are some special challenges involved in his care. He is learning some hand signals, but has a short attention span which is making full implementation difficult. He is a “double-dapple” which sometimes leads to hearing impairment. He does bark though, so he must have had hearing at some point. Shere loves to be around people and is a bit insecure, probably due to his inability to hear. His favorite place is in a human lap…he warms up to strangers quickly! Shere follows his foster dad around the house…never wanting to miss out on anything. He came to DRoH in a bit of a physical mess, but his coat has turned fluffy and grown in fully. Shere has a great appetite and will do his business outside if you stay on his schedule, which means get him outside first thing in the morning and after meals. He will use a pad if the weather is bad and it's in front of the door! He enjoys napping in his crate when people are nearby. Learning to sleep in his crate has been his biggest challenge. Shere does best when there is another buddy there with him. In fact his foster dad is recommending that he have a buddy dog, since he loves to play with other dogs and it will let him sleep through the night. Of course he’d probably love to sleep in a human’s bed if that was allowed, which it’s not at the current time! Shere is one of those dogs that will be attached to your hip and give you lots of affection. Get close to his head, and you’re bound to get kisses!
