Animal Success Stories
Here are just a few examples of some of the fantastic happily ever after endings DROH was able to provide for our animals and our supporters. We'd love to add your story to this page too. Email us at doginfo@dachshundrescueofhouston.org and share how one of our dogs has changed your life. Dobby Hart Dobby has settled in wonderfully in our home and we love him so much! We’ve renamed him Toby, after our favorite town in Scotland called Tobermory. We really appreciate the wonderful work you and the other volunteers are doing to help this breed. Thank you so much for everything.
Nina Bunch DROH took such good care of these little babies. Nina came to us super heathy and with good human and other-dog socialization. She was already on her heartworm preventive and just as happy a baby as she could be. She also had been introduced to house training.
Since living in our house, Nina has fit right in. We did a good introduction with our other dog, and after a week of skepticism from my other dog, Ruby, they now run around and play and chase each other until one or the other one tires out.
We couldn't be happier with our rescue experience, and with Dachshund Rescue of Houston. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this little angel into our lives. We may have rescued her, but she definitely rescued us. :)
Bobo the Elf Dear Friends at DROH,
Thought it was high time we update you on the beautiful, wonderful boy we were privileged to adopt from you 6 years ago. Bobo to you, Sir Galahad to us, was around 4 to 5 when we adopted him.
Galahad was diagnosed with Pemphigus a couple of years ago, but has been in remission for 18 months now. His eyesight is just about gone and his hearing gets worse by the day and arthritis has recently become an issue.
We suspect the ill treatment he suffered prior to rescue has something to do with his succumbing to the problems of old age a bit earlier than normal. Despite all this, Sir Galahad (Galawaggers to his intimate associates) remains the happiest, most upbeat little character ever. He is a constant ray of sunshine. He is a joy to be around and makes everyone - even the neighbors' huffy cat - fell in love with him! (And that cat doesn't like ANYONE, mind you.)
We can't thank you enough for allowing us to adopt our precious boy.
Enjoy the photos of him with his siblings - He's the black and tan.
Howard Young So happy to have Howard Young “Howie” in our home. We are excited for all the adventures we will share together. Thanking you DROH for bringing us together and for Rolando and Laura for being such great fosters!
Cayenne aka "Kianna"
Dear DROH,
Thank you, DROH, for taking in these dachshunds and finding great forever homes for them. I can honestly say we love our Kianna so very much, and can't wait to add another to the family! Just wanted to share our happy story with you. I don't know what we would do without her! Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
