George came to DRoH with a heavy heartworm infestation.  He was treated and began living the charmed life he finally deserved.  Unfortunately the worms had so damaged his lungs that he could not make that life last longer.  From his adopters: I want to let you know we lost our George yesterday. He developed fluid in his abdomen and his little heart just couldn't keep up. It has broken our hearts. We had him for such a short time. Thank you for rescuing him and giving us the opportunity to provide him with love and a family. He deserved so much more time. 

Please remember to use monthly heartworm preventative.  It's an easy option to prevent the sad loss of life.  RIP valiant George.

Sweet little Greg Brady passed away last night. We came close to losing him in June, but we got him through that and he was doing great until a few days ago.  He had liver and kidney issues, and started having seizures again. He had been seizure-free for several years without meds.  Greg's life started out rough.  He was part of the Houston SPCA 200 Puppy Mill rescue in 2011  It look some time, but he turned out to be a great little dog.  We sure will miss him.

Our sweet Greta passed away in her sleep this morning.  She was our faithful sous chef and nanny dachshund, and she will be sorely missed.  Rest well, sweet girl.
