During his nearly 10 years with us, Mahoney enjoyed his puppy lattes, car rides, basking in the sun, soft pup beds, his fluffy cloud blanket, breakfast, dinner, snacks, treats, walks, washing dishes, wagon rides, kayak rides, kisses, being underfoot in the kitchen, back scratches upon waking, being held like a baby, and sneaking into the pantry and quietly opening the cat food container to pilfer treats. We adopted Mahoney from Dachshund Rescue of Houston (DROH.org) in 2011, a wonderful organization. It was love at first sight for Tina and Mahoney. And then when Cooper came to live with us in 2012, the two of them became inseparable - he loved Cooper more than anything and Coopie loved him back. We will always love you, our sweet Ho Ho - Hosie - Hoser - Hosefina. And we will miss you terribly. Thank you being such a sweet son, brother to your fur siblings, grandson, and nephew to your extended family. May you have an endless supply of puppy lattes, kisses, walks and rides. And may the clouds be plentiful and supremely comfortable — you deserve that. Today shortly after he left us a big white cloud passed in the bright sky overhead. In the negative space inside the cloud a blue soaring dachshund revealed itself to us. After years of living with a body that often betrayed him, Mahoney is just fine. We are sad, but we will be fine too. ❤️ Rescued 6/1/2011 Adopted 7/27/2011 Rainbow Bridge 3/6/2021 ![]() Rescued 12/31/13 Adopted 2/24/14 Rainbow Bridge 12/21/18 ![]() Everyone who met Manny was immediately drawn to him. The shelter staff knew he was different and begged Dachshund Rescue of Houston to take him so he wouldn't be put to sleep. Even though he didn't look like a typical dachshund, he made up for it in his calm and shy nature. He loved to sleep next to his foster mom with his head on her lap. Manny passed away suddenly and unexpectedly due to a possible ruptured spleen. His foster mom is heartbroken. ![]() Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
